What to do if your website is suspended by Google

Updated: Feb 19

If your website has been suspended by Google, here are the steps you can follow to resolve the issue:

  1. Identify the cause: Google provides specific reasons for suspension in their email to the website owner. Check that email and determine what caused your website to be suspended. Common reasons include violations of Google's policies such as hosting harmful or malicious content, or engaging in spam or phishing activities.

  2. Remove the violative content: If the suspension is due to hosting harmful or malicious content, remove that content from your website and clean up your site.

  3. Request a review: If you have addressed the issue that caused the suspension, you can request a review through the Google Search Console. In your request, provide details about the steps you have taken to resolve the issue.

  4. Make changes to your website: If Google has given you specific instructions for changes you need to make to your website, make those changes and follow the instructions carefully.

  5. Wait for a response: After you have made the changes, wait for a response from Google. The review process can take several days or longer, so be patient.

It's important to note that if your website has been suspended, it may take some time to regain access and visibility on Google. Be sure to follow all of Google's policies and guidelines to prevent future suspensions.
